Scion game seeks new players [Sep. 9th, 2010|09:17 am]
Gamers in Buffalo, NY

My husband and I are looking for a few new players for our established Scion game.

We play on the first, third, and occasionally fifth Saturday afternoons of each month, at UB-SARPA Open Gaming in Baldy Hall on SUNY Buffalo's North (Amherst) Campus. Game sessions begin at about 2 PM, and end at around 5 PM. No previous experience with the game system is necessary; the rules will be taught. Beginners are welcome!

For those already acquainted with Scion, new characters will begin play at the “Demigod” level. There will be a character creation session for new players on September 18, during our usual game time (see above).

Interested? E-mail thegamemistress AT gmail DOT com for more information, or just reply to this entry.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" game in search of players [Sep. 5th, 2009|09:51 pm]
Gamers in Buffalo, NY

[Current Mood |excitedexcited]

In 2003, the headquarters of the Watchers' Council was destroyed by the minions of the First Evil. That same year, the Sunnydale Hellmouth was shattered, as Willow Rosenberg cast a spell to activate every potential Slayer on Earth.

In 2005, Watcher Claudia Wyndam, her Slayer, Kimiko Yamada, and a small group of allies started the Wyndam Academy, a school designed to train the new generation of Slayers and Watchers. Today, the Academy is thriving, as a new generation of warriors hones their unique powers in the fight against the forces of darkness.

If the forces of darkness have their way, though, they won't survive to graduate....

I am looking for players for a limited-run (from September until December 2009) Buffy the Vampire Slayer game (using the Eden Studios rules) running during the evening session (from approximately 6 to 9 PM) of UB-SaRPA Open Gaming on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The game takes place after Season 7 of the TV show (so multiple Slayer PCs are possible).

No previous experience with the game system is necessary; the rules will be taught. Beginners are welcome!

Interested? E-mail thegamemistress AT gmail DOT com for more information.

Scion players wanted [Sep. 5th, 2009|10:18 am]
Gamers in Buffalo, NY

[Current Mood |hopefulhopeful]

The savage Titans have escaped their prison to wage war on the Gods once more. Their battles in the Overworld have spilled over to ours. Armed with abilities and weapons granted by their divine parents, the Scions stand as humanity's only defense.

My husband and I are looking for players for a Scion: Hero game running at the first session of UB-SaRPA Open Gaming (from approximately 2 to 5 PM) on the first and third Saturdays of each month, starting on September 19, 2009. No previous experience with the game system is necessary; the rules will be taught. Beginners are welcome!

Interested parties may e-mail thegamemistress AT gmail DOT com for more information.

Gamers in Buffalo, NY

The students from the University at Buffalo's Gaming and Anime clubs [SARPA and UBAnime] are proud to present:
UBConXX--Delusions of Grandeur
UB's 20th Annual Gaming and Anime Convention!
One of the largest of its kind in WNY!

Don't spend the weekend alone. Head up to UB's Student Union to play LARPS and RPGs for 72 hours. In between gaming stop by the Maid Cafe, where cute girls dressed in Anime-Cosplay-Maid outfits will serve you yummy food you can eat in one of our many Anime rooms (or Hentai rooms if you'd like that better)!

If you're into even more action than LARPS and RPGs, come for our NERF WAR OF 75 PEOPLE! Friday and Saturday night!

If Cosplaying is your thing--great! Come show off your stuff at our Friday night Costume Contest! All costumes accepted at long as they are "tasteful"! "Non-cosplay" costumes desired as well! Impress us!

Boardgaming locations [Mar. 24th, 2009|10:30 pm]
Gamers in Buffalo, NY

X-posted to buffalo_dorks

I belong to a group of people who play boardgames at a restaurant twice weekly. Tonight we had fairly poor service at our regular restaurant, and weren't allow to use the table we had reserved. (The only table large enough to accomodate some of our games.) Does anyone have any suggestions for another venue where we could play boardgames?

Most of us do order food & drinks when we attend, so we aren't freeloading on the location. The preferences we currently have for a location include:

At least one large table (two would be great)
Food & drink available
Staff that do not rely on tips, as we may take the tables for several hours
The group has a preference for the North Buffalo area, but I would present suggestions to the group if there were a decent place located elsewhere.

My memory of the now closed Higher Grounds Coffeehouse that was at Sheridan and Millersport is an example of the perfect location. Is there something else out there that I don't know about?

For anyone interested in the local boardgame groups, you can check out the groups at meetup.com.

The website I work for just released this subtitler game, so I thought I'd share my geekness with the world. This is only one of the ones I've made... this thing is like crack.

UBCon Online Conbook and Pre-Reg [Mar. 30th, 2008|11:58 pm]
Gamers in Buffalo, NY

UBCon is just around the corner! The convention will be running April 11-13. Events are now viewable at http://www.gryvon.com/ubcon/conbook.php and the Pre-Registration form is available at http://www.gryvon.com/ubcon/prereg.php. There's still time to submit last-minute events, so get those in quick. Also, we're still accepting art for the con book (black and white line art, 8.5"x11" or smaller in size) until the end of the week.

There's been a slight shift in guests for this year. Susan Van Camp will no longer be able to join us, but in her place we're pleased to welcome back Randy Milholland of Something Positive. Jess Hartley of White Wolf and Nick Logue of Wizards of the Coast will be here as planned.

Unfortunately, Wizards of the Coast will not be hosting demos of D&D 4.0 at this time, due to a bit of restructuring they're doing on the rules.

We will be running a Food & Clothing Drive for the Buffalo City Mission the week of con. You can drop off donations at the office (308 Student Union) starting Monday, April 7th until Sunday the 13th.
